Sadly, at the June LPE ISD Monthly Board Meeting the announcement that  longtime LPE ISD employee, Steve Rowell will be leaving the LPE Community in August was made.  Besides the incredible shock to learn of Steve's departure,  the ISD will also be seeking to hire an additional LPE ISD Park Maintenance employee to join ISD Park Employee Tony Hendrix.

Please watch our website for more details for an upcoming Celebration of Steve Rowell and His Years of Service to Our Community Event, being worked on by the LPE Civic Association for early August.  This is a huge loss for our community, so please plan to join us as we celebrate Steve's tenure with the LPE ISD, say our Good Byes and share our Good Wishes with him.

The forum is scheduled for this Thursday, March 26, at 6 pm in the black box theater of the Academy at the Lakes School's new art building.

It will include our guest presenters, the Pasco County Public Works team, with an update on the 2026 approved and budgeted Stormwater & Drainage Projects (early steps toward eventually repaving/rehabbing our roadways). Plus tours of the new art building for those who want to check it out.

    PASCO COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS UPDATES:

Completed Road Projects include River Rock Road drainage repaired. East Lake Dr. at Shoreside Dr. is currently under construction for piping replacement. Thank you to the residents who provided Pasco County with the necessary access and easements to complete these badly needed replacements of some of our over 45-year-old drainage pipes.

Lake Padgett Drive and Lake Saxon Drive are budgeted and ready to go. The County will share with us where these pipe replacements will be located, how they will affect drainage, and what to expect regarding any easements needed, future access, and projects.

I've been told this Lake Padgett/Lake Saxon Drive project is an all-or-nothing proposition: the county is ready to complete it, but it will need all easements in place, or they may need to abandon the entire project.

    See you there!

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District Seven, held a Virtual Project Update (VPU) to present information and gather feedback concerning the US 41 at SR 54 PD&E Study from south of SR 54 to North of SR 54 (WPI Seg. No. 419182-1) in Pasco County.

The purpose of this project is to address future roadway capacity issues and improve safety conditions in the project area. The Preferred Alternative is a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) with US 41 elevated over SR 54 and SR 597 (Dale Mabry Highway).

Updated project materials including maps, graphics, and other information were available for review on this project website from Wednesday, January 28, 2026 through Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

    January 13, 2026

news release text written over photo of seagull flying close to water

    As part of Pasco County’s

continuing efforts to maintain safe, attractive and well-maintained communities, you’re no longer allowed to park recreational or commercial vehicles on streets in Master Planned Unit Developments (MPUDs).  This expands on-street parking restrictions from residential neighborhoods to include larger, mixed-use communities.

“These changes to our Land Development Code address concerns about long-term parking and storage of these types of vehicles,” says Board of County Commissioners Chair Jack Mariano.  “The goal is to improve safety and visibility on neighborhood streets and make our communities more visually appealing.”

    Under the new rules:

    • You can’t park RVs, including boats, trailers, campers or jet skis, in any county right-of-way, including on-street parking spaces.
    • You can’t park commercial vehicles in MPUDs, unless:
    • Your business is legally doing business within the MPUD
    • You park your commercial vehicle in an enclosed structure like a garage

To help everyone understand the new rules, Pasco will be sharing educational information on our website

and social media platforms.  Information cards will also be placed on vehicles that are in violation of the new laws.

To give everyone time to comply with the new laws, warning notices and tickets with fines up to $500 per day will be issued after this educational period, which ends February 27, 2026.

These updates apply only to street parking; all existing rules for RV and boat parking on private property — including temporary allowances during disaster recovery — remain unchanged. To learn more about how these new rules could affect you and your community, please visit: mypas.co/Parking-Rules
